This information is for ALL of our ecommerce customers who advertise via Google Shopping/Google Base.
On 1st April 2011 Google informed all users that changes need to be made to the Google Shopping feed in order for it to continue to function correctly.
The data feed now needs to include at least two of the following fields:
Brand – The Manufacturers Brand Name
MPN – The Manufacturers Part Number
GTIN – Global Trade Item Numbers, such as UPC, EAN, JAN and ISBN codes
Custom made goods are exempt from these changes; however, we would strongly suggest the changes are implemented where possible for future-proofing.
The changes need to be implemented before 3rd May 2011. The costs to implement the changes will vary depending on what data we have available in your control panel/database and what version of our ecommerce software you use.
Due to the importance of being listed on Google Shopping we are assuming that all of our clients with maintenance and/or support contracts will want this change applying. We will contact you before making the change and give details of how much time it will take to complete.
Before 6th June 2011 you also need to inform Google of shipping charges and tax rates. The majority of our ecommerce customers should find that the settings they can change within their Google account will suffice.
