Ten Town is the unique early years numeracy scheme designed to improve number recognition and formation.
Our web design team were delighted to work on a project re-launching the brand identity of Ten Town, an educational company providing creative and interactive solutions for pre-schools. Ten Town supply primary schools with media resources as well as teaching material, to facilitate imaginative and inspirational lesson plans at all times. Netbiz Group has been successful in providing Ten Town with an exciting online space that can be enhanced as their business grows and develops.
Ten Town aspire most of all to make numeracy easy and fun, encouraging children to understand not only the concept of numbers, but how to form them correctly. To improve number recognition and formation, and help to solve the problem of number reversal, Ten Town have created a cross-curricular scheme that can be used to provide exciting and meaningful lessons across all areas of learning.
Rebecca Sandy is the brains behind the Ten Town concept. Over 15 years ago, Rebecca was working in a primary school and was concerned that primary school level pupils still seemed unsure on how to write down numbers. She came up with the idea of "Fiona Five": a character who was introduced with a story that children were able to remember and most importantly visualise. This enabled them to clearly picture numbers and memorise them. Ten Town has confidence in the notion that "Children learn a new concept faster if it appeals to their imagination and creates a picture in their minds", and anyone else working with children, as well as parents themselves, will undoubtedly understand the values behind Ten Town's vision.
As a web design and marketing agency, the team at Netbiz Group was interested in providing original and innovative designs that would strengthen Ten Town's brand awareness and effectively bring characters like "King One" and "Sir Seven" to life. The online games based around the Ten Town characters, in addition to the animated songs, stories, videos and activities that we have implemented into the website all give Ten Town's clients an insight into the kind of material that they can subscribe to that will greatly enhance a teaching and learning experience.
While technical experts and creative minds at Netbiz Group led the project, we also appreciated that Ten Town are a commercial business and we were conscious to create a website that would increase their company exposure and deliver results. Understanding Ten Town's values and goals and implementing them as part of our own design was only part of our thinking, we also considered Ten Town's target audience and thus created a user-friendly website with lots of interactive elements that are truly engaging for children.
As the summer holidays draw closer, we hope that Ten Town will be receiving lots of enquiries about their teaching resource packages and we intend to stay in touch with them to provide any support we can.
